The lonely Flubdax hitches a ride on a cool summers night.
Loving the love, acrizzle and friends.
Feels good to be back! Keep the stickpics coming. I need to get back into the swing of things.
Just wanted to let you guys know I’ve not vanished. I’ve recieved a few comments about not doing one for a while. I’ve been super busy lately, but I will be back in business soon enough.
In the meantime, feast your eyes on the globwallower, a magnificent beast that sucks the very nutrients from the earth, turning them into a sort of acidic sticky green gloop.
Thanks acrizzle, for always keeping me posted.
The snarpshout swamp picker bury’s it’s long claws deep into the ground as it searches the ever-glow forest, looking for juicy worms, bugs or grubs.
So it seems my blog hasn’t gone completely unnoticed by the big wigs at work. I was called down for a meeting with the boss and the general manager and asked to design concepts for the next ipad game. I was given two days to come up with 16-18 designs. A tall order for my first real concept task, but they told me they weren’t concerned with quality so much as the ideas generated. Suffice to say I set to work scratching out pic after pic as fast as I could.
The boss loved them. He even went so far as to exclaim “Oh wow, sooo why is it we don’t get you to do all the concept art again?”
I was ecstatic, as can be imagined.
& they weren’t even the best I felt I could do, they were just the fastest I could get ideas out…
The sad part is I wont be the one modelling them, as I’ve been charged with a somewhat more challenging work task involving historical accuracy and sprite sheets. Alas, my NDA forbids me from going into too much detail.
Thanks to acrizzle for this sexy ensemble!
Through the veils of mist a dim light emerges, cutting the smog and dancing on the edges of the dusty clouds. It reveals a Mistwalker, one of the few remaining creatures on the planet able to survive in the most toxic conditions. It uses it’s bright light not only as a guiding device, but as a tool for cleansing the pollution directly from the air in front of it, enabling it to breathe. It’s long tail-like tendril writhes and sways as it scuttles through the plains searching for other forms of life to prey upon.
Thanks to GG for this entangled enigma!
Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. So I did. Then I gave it wings.
This was probably the hardest stickpic I’ve had to date. The sheer mindbreaking thought of trying to convert what is essentially a box into something organic was a feat I almost gave up on. I’ll admit, I was a bit sneaky in that technically I warped the box a bit, but the lines are all there. In all their liney glory.
This stickpic was graciously given with the title Vector Container. I’m sure there’s some sort of irony in there of it being turned into a creature of vast freedom. Plus the term Vector even sounds a bit bird-like. So there.
Thanks to Dr W for this insane game-breaker!
The humble Ground Tongle dreams of a better life and better tasting mushrooms.
Thanks to Gaz for this canine tush!
Freakish monsters with silly feet. This is what I felt the world was really missing.
I would imagine this little guy uses it’s impaling arm to dig deep into the ground and skewer moles for it’s prey. It also doubles as a loyal companion!
Thanks to GG for this squeaky fellow!
I’ve been itching to do this one ever since it landed in my inbox.
One of my co-workers has recently been making spaceships as part of a new game the company is making for ipads. Her designs are crazy complex but super awesome & I guess I felt a bit jelly & wanted in on some of that sexy space action.
That and this just screamed space ship to me.
Thanks to my OG acrizzle for this shiny hunk of space junk!
It’s high time I start making settings for some of these…creations!
So here we have the lovely Blue Moon Singer (As named by JT). It is said to be a creature so rare, that it makes fairies seem common by comparison. Feeding off the natural energy (NPK!) of forest floors, it’s unique skin can adapt itself to become invisible to the naked eye, choosing only to appear when it feels like it…
Thanks to GG for another timeless classic!
A new stickpic coming up. Although I haven’t had any time for zbrush this weekend as I embarked on a 10 hour journey to London to see The Phantom of the Opera with my family (for my mothers 60th birthday).
In the meantime, here’s a picture I faffed around with for a few minutes using these tutorials:

Fun Stuff!
